What We Do
Mission Statement
World Scholarship Initiative funds education for bright Kenyan students unable to afford it themselves. Our goal is to empower individuals, especially young women, to lead dignified and successful lives, and along the way to fight ignorance, increase health, and reduce social and economic inequality.

We serve this purpose with two programs. Our high school program provides top students entering high school with full financial support for four years. Our higher education program is for students who have completed the high school program, and provides partial support during their pursuit of further education.
Our Programs
HIGH SCHOOL
We send students to single-sex boarding schools - the gold standard for high schools in Kenya. The schools emphasize educating the whole person and provide everything the students need, eliminating obstacles to learning. The full cost for one student - tuition, room, board, and supplies - each year is about $900.
FOCUS ON GIRLS
Women and girls in Kenya face significant obstacles to accessing education. Yet, studies show that educating girls not only benefits them but also their families, children, and communities. We commit to awarding at least half of our scholarships to girls.
MENTORSHIP
We believe that mentorship and role models can be transformative to a young person. Many of our high school graduates remain involved with our programs, from helping freshmen move into a boarding school, to peer support groups among university students.
HIGHER ED
We are committed to helping WSI scholars chase education as far as they can. Many students choose to enter the workforce after high school. We assist those who want to go further, whether that's at a technical college or a four-year university.
